The Midland Chamber reported on the Protect Your Business Annual Cybersecurity Forum, which took place at the Midland Community Theatre on March 27. The announcement was made in a Facebook post.
According to the post, the event was presented by Community National Bank (CNB) and the chamber. It brought together business owners and cybersecurity professionals to focus on safeguarding businesses from cyber threats. Expert speakers addressed topics such as data protection, network security, and risk management.
Among the speakers were cybersecurity expert Morgan Wright, who began the forum with his presentation titled "Small Business is Big Business to Hackers." Dallas-Fort Worth attorney Shawn Tuma also spoke, covering risk management strategies to help businesses protect against and respond to ransomware attacks in an in-depth discussion on ransomware and cybersecurity.
Statista reports that the cost of cybercrime globally amounts to $9.22 trillion. In 2023 alone, 1.9 million unique threats were reported by end users.
The chamber announced that the forum will be available for streaming online and encouraged people to follow CNB’s social media channels for more information.
