Midland’s Half Acre reported a successful summer, filled with sales, a YourBasin news report said.
The barbecue joint offers beef short ribs and brisket eggrolls on its menu, as well as homemade items like pickles and barbecue sauce.
The restaurant's meats come from Midland Meat Company; 95% of Midland's meats come from the company's ranch, the news report said.
Half Acre initially started as a food truck in 2017 and has now grown to attract local meat lovers. This past July, the restaurant was voted by Texas Monthly as one of 25 new and improved BBQ restaurants in Texas.
“Barbecue is messy, and you usually need both hands,” said John Scharbauer, owner of the Midland Meat Company. “We wanted to create an item for guys on the road in trucks so that they can grab and eat while working.”
“John credits much of Half Acre’s success to his pit master, Aaron Lesley, who grew up watching his grandfather on the pit,” the Your Basin report said. “When Lesley was not working in the oil field, he was perfecting his craft and catering barbecue on the side. Continuing the legacy of his grandfather, Lesley won many BBQ competitions leading up to accepting his full-time position as Half Acre’s pit master.”
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“We strive for the highest quality, and we want people to come here with that expectation and to leave full and happy,” Scharbauer said.
