According to its website, the “Don Tomás Café” makes a variety of authentic Mexican food, including tortillas, burritos, Asado, and more. Located in Midland, Texas, the restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. through 2 p.m.

The cafe’s website states that the founders opened Don Tomás Café with the purpose of spreading the “feeling of home” brought about by true Mexican cuisine. Their popularity grew in the Midland community and their dishes are made fresh with “bold” and “delicious” flavors, says the website.

"The founder, Alvaro Reyes Jr, has always loved cooking," Mabel Reyes, a representative of the Don Tomás Café, told Midland Times. "His mother, Guadalupe Reyes, along with all his aunts have always cooked authentic Mexican food for their family as food has and is ALWAYS incorporated in their family gatherings."

Mabel said that Alvaro's maternal grandparents had eleven children and taught the nine daughters to be great cooks. They all passed on their cooking skills to Reyes, but one in particular, Elvira Orona, particularly inspired Alvaro.

"The taste and smell of homemade cooking and tortillas that reminds one of their grandmother's home is something worth sharing and therefore, his love for cooking, food, and family recipes, all had persuasion for the opening of Don Tomás Café," Mabel said.

According to Mable, the restaurant strives to provide the best quality food and service possible.

"We take pride in the quality of our food, our staff, and our establishment. We recognize the love and support received from our community and could not be more grateful, Mabel said. "Thank you all!"
