The Grind Coffee and Korean Dessert has made its way to West Texas, according to a Your Basin report.
“It feels like I am representing my business but also representing something that’s Korean which is in my blood as well,” the owner said during an interview with Your Basin.
The idea for the restaurant derived from the owners’ desire to share aspects of Korean culture and connect with the local community after moving from New York to Midland three years ago.
"After we opened, we really had time to connect with the locals and the people of the community,” the owner said.
Business was initially slow with various business roadblocks, but later expanded and has even sold out at times.
The place offers traditional Korean desserts, such as Bingsu.
"There's been a lot of love and support from the community,” the owner said. “I think that's how everybody got to know us and that's why we were so slammed the first five days or so."
The opening was announced just a month after news of a new Midland-based Dutch Bros Coffee construction project was confirmed, the Midland Reporter-Telegram reported.
Located at 4100 N. Big Spring St., the shop, spanning 950 square feet, is scheduled to be completed on Sept. 4, according to the permit filing. Upon opening, it will offer both drive-thru and walk-up transactions, the filing states.
