Various agencies collaborated earlier this week to combat a hydrochloride acid spill based in the SCR 1156 and FM 1213 business area, according to a Your Basin report. The evacuation notice has since been lifted.
One patient was taken by personal vehicle to the hospital, while another one was taken for treatment by EMS. The remainder of the workers who were based where the spill occurred evacuated without incident.
The emergency call was made on Aug. 14 at 7:08 p.m. by Midland County Public Information Officer Tate Owen.
“Crews are on the scene securing the area and investigating the spill and homes and businesses downwind of the spill half a mile from the intersection are being evacuated,” the report stated. “The community is asked to avoid the area.”
The name of the business involved in the incident has not been released by Midland County officials.
“The acid spill has been contained by the Midland Fire Department hazmat team,” a CBS7 report stated. “Houses are still being evacuated. According to the Midland County Emergency Management Coordinator, a commercial hazmat remediation team is on their way to the spill.”
The cause of the acid spill is unknown.
