The Midland RockHounds, Double-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, won the first game of the six-game series as they play host to the Arkansas Travelers, according to a press release.

"Offensive outburst help the Hounds take the WIN!!!" the RockHounds tweeted on the X platform on Aug. 8, following their 16-4 victory.

The RockHounds returned home to Midland following their 3-3 series draw with the Frisco RoughRiders last week, according to the press release. They are now hosting the Arkansas Travelers until Aug. 13.

The Travelers, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, are making their sole visit to Midland this season. The Travelers entered the series in third place in the Northern Division. The team (15-18) played the Hounds (17-17) back in June and won the series 4-2.

Midland has introduced four new additions, two of which were acquired through trades, according to the release. RHP Joe Boyle, obtained from Cincinnati, took the lead and secured victory in game 4 against Frisco. RHP Chad Patrick, traded from Arizona, had just pitched against the RockHounds before joining Frisco for game 5. Despite his season-best nine strikeouts, he conceded five earned runs, resulting in a loss. The remaining newcomers include outfielder Brayan Buelvas, promoted from Stockton Ports, and SS Casey Yamauchi, signed as a free agent hailing from Hilo, Hawaii.

The RockHounds also announced in the press release the upcoming schedule for events at the field. Aug. 9 began with half-price hot dogs for Wiener Wednesday, followed by Thirsty Thursday and half-priced beverages at the game. At the game on Aug. 11, the first 1,000 kids will receive an insulated lunch bag, Saturday will be "Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond" followed by fireworks, and Aug. 13 is Family Sunday, where an MRT coupon can earn five tickets for $25.
