Midland Independent School District (MISD) has added retention incentives to compensation plans for educators and campus-based staff, according to a press release.

"We are committed to fostering a nurturing environment where our students can thrive academically and emotionally," Chief of Human Capital Brandon Reyes said. "Our team of educators and staff play a vital role in achieving this goal, and we are excited to introduce these incentives as a testament to their dedication."

The retention incentive will offer eligible MISD employees an additional $1,000 to $1,500 per year to “acknowledge the importance of our employees' long-term commitment to MISD,” the release stated.

In addition, Midland ISD has rolled out the Perfect Attendance incentive, offering an annual potential payout sum of $1,500 to $3,000 for exempt and non-exempt campus staff. Payments will be allocated every six weeks throughout the year.

“Consistent interactions with teachers, staff and peers provide our students with a sense of belonging that contributes to both their academic and emotional development,” the press release stated. “We recognize the importance of every role in our educational community and understand that even a single absence can disrupt the rhythm of our schools, affecting the learning and wellbeing of our students.”

The two initiatives were created to honor the commitment of MISD employees and highlight the importance of consistent attendance.

“Midland ISD recognizes the need to retain and reward our valuable staff in order to accomplish our mission of preparing all students for college or career,” the release stated. “We firmly believe that high retention rates among our educators and campus-based staff are essential for fostering stable and thriving learning spaces.”
