How did Midland’s Lily Sawyer rank in Girls’ 12 bracket for singles points in week ending Nov. 19?

Lily Sawyer of Midland finished 16,953rd in the United States Tennis Association’s Girls’ 12 bracket in the week ending Nov. 19.

They lost 16 points to finish the week with 52 single points.

Their ranking fell by 1,977 from the week before.

Players earn points per round in tournaments, winning higher points the further into a tournament they advance.

Jarett Cascino of New York Tennis Magazine says tennis is one of the most competitive youth sports.

“There is always someone better than you on any given day, even if you are the number one player in the world!” he said.
