The City of Midland has informed the community that its water sources are located outside Midland County, according to a Facebook post.
The city explained in the post that residents' water travels between 60 to 100 miles before reaching their faucets. A graphic accompanying the post shows five sources: T BAR Well Field, Clearwater Well Field, Lake Jill Thomas, E.V. Spence Reserve, and O.H. Ivie Lake. Additionally, two sources are currently inactive: Paul Davis Well Field and Fort Stockton Well Field.
According to the city, it is exploring new sources to secure its water supply. "Water is a valuable resource, and we're committed to ensuring it's available for generations to come," the post said.
Last month, Midland experienced disruptions in water services when one of its water line valves required repair. The disruptions resulted in residents having to retrieve water bottles at the parking lot east of Astound Broadband Stadium at the Scharbauer Sports Complex, located at 5514 Champions Dr., as reported by the Midland Times.
