Midland tennis player Cameron Newton ranks 5,373rd in Boys’ 16 doubles points bracket in week ending Oct. 1

Cameron Newton of Midland finished 5,373rd in the United States Tennis Association’s Boys’ 16 bracket in the week ending Oct. 1.

They have three double points by the end of the week.

Their ranking fell by 48 from the week before.

There are 50 USTA players from Midland across all age categories.

Players earn points per round in tournaments, winning higher points the further into a tournament they advance.

Jarett Cascino of New York Tennis Magazine says tennis is one of the most competitive youth sports.

“There is always someone better than you on any given day, even if you are the number one player in the world!” he said.
