USTA: Casey Hopkins of Midland ranks 20,131st in Girls’ 12 singles points bracket in week ending Sept. 3

Casey Hopkins of Midland finished 20,131st in the United States Tennis Association’s Girls’ 12 bracket in the week ending Sept. 3.

They earned no points to finish the week with 32 single points.

Their ranking rose by 339 over the week before.

There are 53 USTA players from Midland across all age categories.

Players earn points per round in tournaments, winning higher points the further into a tournament they advance.

Jarett Cascino of New York Tennis Magazine says tennis is one of the most competitive youth sports.

“There is always someone better than you on any given day, even if you are the number one player in the world!” he said.
