Tom Harvey, defensive coordinator of the Andrews High School football team, has been named to succeed head coach Ralph Mason, who is retiring, CBS7 reported.
"We are excited for Coach Harvey to take over the reins as head football coach," Bobby Azam, superintendent of the Andrews Independent School District, told the station. "Coach Harvey is one of the well-respected coaches in Texas high school football and has been with many successful programs across the state. We know our kids love him and will be a great fit for Mustang Football."
Harvey has been defensive coordinator for the last five years and on the coaching staff for seven years, the station said. He previously coached for Refugio and Corpus Christi Calallen.
The Andrews football team won regional championships in 2006, 2007,2016 and 2019, according to the school's website.
