What might have seemed like a futuristic idea a few years ago is a reality for those interested in robotics. Venture Robotics, based in Midland, was founded by Ginger and Dann Schantz to introduce a younger generation to robotics and inspire them to create.

“We feel that when young people have a good engagement with technology that it sets that foundation a little bit deeper,” Ginger Schantz, president and co-founder, told CBS7. “If they have the confidence, if they have the belief that they can do this, they can do so many more things as well.”

The area of robotics continues to develop at a rapid pace. Venture Robotics utilizes its products in a number of things like summer camps, homeschool sessions, and robotics-themed birthday parties.

There are different levels for those who have experience with robotics and those who are just beginning. They have multiple bots to choose from and sessions that offer the chance to drive the robot or attempt complex coding.

Ginger Schantz said one of the great impacts of robotics is that it teaches hands-on skills through building and allows creativity through designing.

“You can again just do the driving or if they want to come to a camp that’s more based on the coding, we can do that aspect as well,” she said.

The founders said they strongly believe in education and giving back to their community.

“I have some kids who are like, 'I don’t know if I can do this,'” Dann Schantz said. "I’m just kind of like, 'Let’s give it a try.' It’s giving them the diving board and actually giving them a chance to jump into the deep end a little bit."
