Midland Independent School District’s (ISD) trustee, John Trischitti, stated in a recent letter that the school board must be present to help its students in whatever ways equip them to thrive.
Midland ISD reported that Trischitti, who has been a board member since 2019, is being highlighted for January’s School Board Recognition Month.
“Public education is the base for students to achieve potentially anything they want in life,” Trischitti said. “I am an example of the power that education can have on a life."
In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, Trischitti’s call for more resources to support students and families is more timely than ever before, as he claims that negative social and economic loops must been broken with the right resources.
“We need to provide the best possible education that equips students for success,” Trischitti said.
Trischitti was director of the Midland County Public Libraries from 2011 through 2019 and is now the executive director of Midland Development Corp., both of which have given him an intimate knowledge of how organizations must support individuals.
Trischitti was a graduate of Coronado High School and grew up in Lubbock. He attended Wayland Baptist University. Where he graduated in 2000 with a B.A. and then went on to University of North Texas where he graduated in 2009 with a master's degree in Library Science.
He was the Texas Librarian of the Year and has also been recognized for his success by being called one of MIdland’s 20 under 40, as well as being a recipient of Rosalind Redfern Library Benefactor Award.
Trischitti’s involvement on a local level is highly apparent through his roles on the Texas State Library and Archives Commission’s Library Systems Act Board, his position on the Midland Airport Board and his role with the Texas Library Association Bluebonnet Award Selection Committee.
