The Midkiff Road closure affecting the railroad crossing at Bankhead Highway and Industrial Avenue is expected to end Tuesday, Dec. 15, with regular operation resuming going forward.
According to a November Facebook post from the City of Midland, the overall closure will have lasted approximately two weeks from the original closing on Nov. 29.
No vehicles can traverse the crossing at any time of the day, and travelers currently need to find an alternate route, the city said in the Facebook post. However, access to local businesses will be maintained.
The city's recommended detour is for drivers to use the adjacent rail crossing at Warehouse Road and Garfield street, the city said in the post.
The purpose of the closure is to replace outdated signal equipment, the city said in the post. Additional upgrades are being made in relation to the crossing while the route is closed to traffic.
