All of the projects in the second year of the city of Midland's five-year road bond plan have been completed.
In 2017, Midland voters approved $100 million in bond funding for city roads and utilities. The city planned to undertake 26 projects in five years.
Of the $100 million, 60% of the funds will cover the cost of pavement removal and repaving, 24.4% will be devoted to utility line replacement,10.4% will be devoted to Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliance modifications, and 5.2% will go to engineering costs.
Water, sewer and road construction work has been completed on Bluebird Ln (east of Midland Dr), Cuthbert Ave (Garfield St to Ward St), Louisiana Ave (Garfield St to A St), Michigan Ave (Garfield St to A St), Texas Ave (Andrews Hwy to A St), Carter Ave (Cotton Flat Rd to Big Spring St), Bankhead Hwy (west of Midkiff Rd to Front St), Wood Dr and Oriole Dr, west of Midland Dr, north of Mockingbird Ln according to a Facebook post.
Construction has already begun on some of the year three, four and five projects. Final designs and third-party utility relocations are happening on others.
