When Midland College golfer and Monahans High School product J.T. Pittman is on the green, he is essentially alone.

Or at least he think he is.

“I really tried not to think about anybody else” Pittman said in a press release, the Midland Reporter-Telegram reported. “I just tried to play the golf course one shot at a time and make as many birdies as I could.”

The ability to shut out the world contributed to the MC sophomore’s most recent feat: winning the 92nd West Texas Amateur at Bentwood Country Club in San Angelo last month.

Pittman shot an 8-under 68-70-70—208 total to edge out Jansen Smith of San Angelo, who attends Texas Tech, the Reporter-Telegram reported.

“A lot of great players have played against me this week,” Pittman said in the release. “Hats off to them, they all played great, but I am glad I got the win.”
