Senior Reservoir Engineer Yogashri Pradhan has been recognized for her work with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and is to be the recipient of two awards, Endeavor Energy Resources reported.
Pradhan was granted the SPE Regional Service Award for her work and contributions to the development of the member’s section and region, and was awarded the SPE Regional Technical Award for her Reservoir Description and Dynamics work.
Pradhan is studying at Texas A&M for her masters in Petroleum Engineering.
“I decided to study engineering because I have always been passionate about math and science from a very young age and I wanted to apply those skills, Pradhan told Energy4Me. "After exploring math and science in elementary and middle school with math and science competitions and projects, going to camps that encouraged engineering, I knew that I wanted to focus on petroleum engineering or the engineering discipline when I was deciding where to go to college.”
Pradhan appreciates the fact that she can apply her technical skills and education experience to her work. She also appreciates that she can see tasks through from start to finish.
“Once I’m looking at how the math and science skills , how the problems I get to solve impact the business or my job and how it influences decisions for senior management, it’s a truly rewarding experience to see something through from start to finish,” Pradhan said.
Pradhan has lived in Houston and Midland. She currently resides in Midland.
Students considering engineering will find a career in the field rewarding as the skills can be practically applied, Pradhand said.
Good problem-solving skills, teamwork, math and science skills and even soft skills can go a long way in those considering an engineering career, Pradhan said.
