MISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) students are preparing for the upcoming SkillsUSA state competition.

According to a Facebook post by the district, students from Midland High and Legacy High earned their places in the competition after qualifying at the district conference. "MHS and LHS students qualified to compete in various disciplines including cosmetics, forensics, culinary, HVAC, diesel, automotive, and mechatronics," said MISD. The state competition is scheduled for April 2-5 in Corpus Christi. The post also noted that "SkillsUSA and other CTE programs align with our Strategic Plan's initiative to improve academic support and career preparation! #StudentExperience."

Earlier this month, Midland Times reported that students who are dual credit participants at Midland College (MC) won 19 medals at the SkillsUSA District Conference. These achievements secured their spots at the state level.

According to a news release, MC collaborates with MISD to offer dual credit opportunities for its technical programs. "We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by the students from Midland High and Legacy High," said Jeff Horner, executive director of MISD Career and Technical Education (CTE).
