The Midland Independent School District’s Pease Communications & Technology Academy recently hosted West Texas FC head coach Scotty Murray.
According to a March 18 Facebook post shared by the magnet elementary school, Murray spoke to the students about his youth in Australia, his playing experience, and the growing popularity of soccer in the region. "We look forward to attending a game this upcoming season so that we can roar for our new friends at West Texas FC," PCTA wrote in the post.
Murray's LinkedIn page provides additional information about his background. He was born in Australia and currently serves as a coach with the Faulkner University men’s soccer team. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Bluefield University in Virginia and is expected to graduate with a master’s degree from Faulkner this spring.
According to West Texas FC, the team will be entering its third season in 2025 as the defending Lone Star Conference champions. It will begin the campaign on May 17 with an away game against the Fort Worth Vaqueros and will have its home opener against Oklahoma United FC at Astound Broadband Stadium on May 25.
