Rep. August Pfluger and Sen. Tim Scott introduced legislation aimed at easing restrictions on the export of American liquefied natural gas (LNG). The proposed Unlocking Domestic LNG Potential Act seeks to transfer the authority for approving LNG exports from the U.S. Department of Energy to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, thereby streamlining the process.

The bill is a response to measures taken during President Biden's administration that halted LNG export approvals, which Rep. Pfluger criticized as detrimental to America's energy sector. "President Biden spent four years pandering to progressive climate extremists and restricted future energy exports instead of unleashing American energy production," Pfluger said.

Senator Scott emphasized the importance of domestic energy production for national security and economic stability. "Unlocking American energy production not only plays a vital role in safeguarding our national security but is the path to lowering energy costs for families across the nation," he said.
