Legacy High School is highlighting the benefits of the online platform Match, which allows universities to apply for students. This initiative has resulted in a total scholarship offer of $31.1 million for seniors.
According to a news release from Midland Independent School District (ISD), the website is supported by Concourse to streamline the scholarship application process. Students have received 419 college admission offers and an average of $277,000 in scholarship offers per student who used the service. Some of the highest scholarship offers have been awarded to students within the average GPA range.
The news release states that most students typically create applications with each university they wish to apply to when not using Apply Texas or the Common Application. In contrast, Match is free for both students and the school district, while other services may incur fees.
"This platform has been a game changer," says Vanessa Wimberley, Legacy High School coordinator for College, Career, and Military Readiness. "Not only is the application free, it provides quick feedback to the student with admissions and scholarship offers." Wimberley added that students input what they are looking for in a college and then receive a match. They can proceed if they're interested. Factors such as desired location, personal interests, and cost of living are considered when matching the university with the student.
