An update on the 2023 bond was discussed during the Midland Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees meeting.

According to the district, efforts have been made to keep the public informed about projects related to the bond. Artist renderings of Lone Star Trails Elementary and construction photos have been shared, with full power expected to be installed by April. The school is $8.5 million under budget and is anticipated to open by the coming school year. The new Midland High School site has been cleared, with 276 large trees removed and slated for replanting.

Construction of floor plans for Emerson, General Franks, Sam Houston, Lamar, Long, Parker, South, and IDEA Travis—part of Elementary School Renovation Group A—is expected to begin in the fall. Fire suppression systems are approximately 60% complete, while renovations are 30% finished. Projects at Santa Rita, Bush, Scharbauer, and De Zavala elementary schools will be designed by MWM Architects. This firm was selected in September; with building designs complete, construction plans are now 50% done.

Safety upgrades at elementary campuses are reported to be 97% complete. Middle schools in group A of the renovation project are anticipated to be finished by August 2026. Construction of the Alamo Junior High project is expected to begin in the summer and be completed by the 2026-27 school year.
