The Preserve, a large-scale mixed-use development set to break ground in early 2025, will bring retail, office spaces, dining, and natural recreational areas to Midland. To be built on the former Nueva Vista Golf Club site, nearly half of the space will be dedicated to parks, open areas, and natural features.

The development will include outdoor amenities including a large pond with walking paths and a boardwalk, as well as hiking and biking trails that connect areas across the site. Additional features will include parks, picnic areas, and recreational spaces.

The project is designed to be a family-friendly destination that prioritizes an active lifestyle and community engagement for all ages.

“We wanted to transform the land into a place that was family-friendly and welcoming to children and families within the community,” said Reid Redman, one of the project’s founders, in a previous interview with Midland Times. “We recognized its potential to provide a meeting place for families and children, especially since the team behind The Preserve have children and plans to raise our families here.”

Co-founder Adam Cunyus said similar sentiments: “When exploring what to do with the land within The Preserve, we were certain of one thing – Midland families needed more things to do. I’ve got three children whose ages range from seven to 14, and there are only a handful of things to do here for entertainment. For a town of this size, there's a lack of family friendly things to enjoy.”

The project's founders highlight the development as a way to enhance the city's recreational offerings and create a lasting community legacy. “We want to create something special for this city as a way to give back to the community,” said Ian Denholm, co-founder of The Preserve.
