The construction of a bus lane at Santa Rita Elementary has been disclosed through a filing with a state regulatory agency.
According to the February 17 filing, the 800-foot bus lane was scheduled to commence on February 18 and is expected to be completed by February 18, 2026. The construction timelines mentioned in the filings are preliminary.
The $538,551 project will take place at the school located at 5306 Whitman Street, as said in the filing. Midland Independent School District (ISD) Chief Operations Officer Cortney Smith is overseeing the project.
At the Midland ISD Board of Trustees January meeting, it was revealed that MWM Architects was selected as the design firm for renovation projects at Santa Rita, Bush, Scharbauer, and De Zavala elementary schools. A construction timeline is anticipated to be announced after the project's design stage is finalized.
