Mayor Lori Blong attended the "Celebration of Texas Women 2025" event at the Petroleum Club of Midland on February 6. The gathering aimed to support the Midland Independent School District’s (MISD) Young Women’s Leadership Academy (YWLA).

Blong said in a February 7 Facebook post that YWLA mentors and challenges young women in the city to become exemplary leaders. She noted her appreciation for being surrounded by women leaders who are committed to investing in future generations.

The event was also attended by MISD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Howard, philanthropist Karmen Hendrix Bryant, and Miss Texas Annette Addo-Yobo. According to Blong, Howard is instrumental in shaping MISD's future, Hendrix Bryant exemplifies community leadership, and Addo-Yobo demonstrates that leadership is about making an impact.

Blong expressed gratitude towards supporters of the YWLA’s "25 for 25" campaign. "Because when we invest in girls today, we’re building the women who will lead tomorrow," she said in her post.
