The Midland Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the City of Midland unveiled a life-size bronze statue of State Rep. Tom Craddick and his wife, Nadine, on Jan. 28 at the Midland International Air and Space Port. The ceremony recognized Craddick’s tenure as the longest-serving legislator in Texas House history and the couple’s contributions to the community.

"I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to greet all who visit our district, thanks to the City of Midland, the Midland Chamber, and former Mayor Bobby Burns,” Craddick said in an email from Midland Chamber of Commerce recapping the event. “It is a great honor to be recognized by the community in this manner. I am proud to represent District 82 in the Texas House of Representatives.”

Artist David Deming sculpted the statue, which features the Craddicks standing beside Craddick's House floor desk. The artwork includes his signature paperweight inscribed with the phrase, “Diplomacy – The art of letting someone have it your way.”

The statue is one of several recognitions honoring the Craddicks in Midland. In October 2024, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) named its Physician Assistant Studies Program after the couple in recognition of their support in establishing and expanding the program. Midland Memorial Hospital dedicated the Nadine and Tom Craddick Medical Office Building in September 2012 to acknowledge their contributions to healthcare in the community.
