The Midland County Fire Marshal's Office announced a residential trash drop-off event on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena.
The event will promote responsible waste disposal and discourage illegal dumping. Residents will be able to drop off items such as used tires, motor oil, small and large batteries, and other bulky household waste.
“Keeping our roadways clean is a shared responsibility,” said Justin Bunch, Midland County Fire Marshal. “By providing this drop-off service, we hope to encourage our residents to dispose of their waste responsibly and work together to keep Midland County beautiful.”
Officials are urging community members to avoid dumping unwanted items along roadsides, citing environmental concerns and impacts on property values and public safety.
Trash left on roadsides can harm wildlife, contribute to hazardous conditions for drivers and pedestrians, and negatively affect the appearance of the community, the Fire Marshal's Office said.
“Keep Midland Beautiful is excited and pleased that Midland County is providing a much-needed residential trash drop-off event! Many of our residents lack the means to dispose of their large items, so having the County offer a free and easy way to keep these items out of our landfills is greatly appreciated,” Keep Midland Beautiful Executive Director Joy Paulson told Midland Times. “We all love our community and want to take care of it and work towards a waste-free environment, and it is great to see this effort come to fruition.”
The event is open to all Midland County residents. The Midland County Horseshoe Arena is located at 2514 Arena Trail.
