Midland Independent School District (ISD) students will have the opportunity to develop experiments that could be launched to the International Space Station, where astronauts will conduct the testing.
According to a Facebook post by the Midland Development Corporation (MDC), they are partnering with the Higher Orbits Go For Launch program for a two-day event designed to engage students with space exploration.
"We're excited to work with Midland ISD, Chevron, and Midland Education Foundation to bring this event to our Midland students," wrote MDC. The post indicates that aspiring astronauts and space enthusiasts in grades 7 through 12 will have the opportunity to learn about space exploration.
The event is scheduled for February 18 and 19 at Legacy High School from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to a flyer accompanying the post. Registration is free for students, who must attend each day of the event.
