The Midland Independent School District (ISD) Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) continues to achieve significant milestones in membership as it encourages citizens to join the organization.

According to a recent post on Facebook, membership has reached 6,075. The Midland ISD Council of PTAs unites parents, teachers, and staff to support schools and enhance the learning experience for students. "Every week our PTA memberships continue to increase. It's never too late to join PTA," the organization said.

During the January 21 Midland ISD Board of Trustees meeting, the organization revealed that it had surpassed its yearly goal of 6,000 members in December. At that time, there were 6,057 individuals involved with the organization. Membership at Scharbauer Elementary experienced a 414% year-over-year increase, Bonham Elementary saw a 274% rise, and Jane Long Elementary reported a 170% increase.

According to a news release from Midland ISD (MISD), the meeting also provided an opportunity to address initiatives within its strategic plan. The district tested more students on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) during the fall semester and plans to further increase participation in College Board assessments, Advanced Placement (AP) scholars programs, and dual credit achievements. Additionally, MISD aims to implement discipline measures related to its no-cellphone policy to reduce disruptions on campuses.
