An update on the 2023 bond was once again a topic of discussion during the Midland Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees meeting.
According to the district, efforts have been made to keep the public informed about projects related to the bond. The development of Lone Star Trails Elementary is reported to be 32% complete and is on track to open for the next school year. The design stage for two new high school campuses has been completed, with construction documents underway. The district anticipates these schools will be operational by August 2028.
Construction costs and design for Emerson, General Franks, Sam Houston, Lamar, Long, Parker, South, and IDEA Travis—part of Elementary School Renovation Group A—are reportedly 95% finished. The board expects renovations at these campuses to be completed by August 2026. Projects at Santa Rita, Bush, Scharbauer, and De Zavala elementary schools will be designed by MWM Architects. This firm was selected in September; however, a timeline for development is expected to be established after the planning stage concludes.
Safety upgrades at elementary campuses are said to be 95% complete. Middle schools in group A of the renovation project are anticipated to be finished by August 2026. The Alamo Junior High project is currently undergoing planning schematics that are reportedly 75% complete and is also expected to be finished by the 2026-27 school year.
