Legacy High School Principal Mich Etzel has extended congratulations to two teachers who were among five educators awarded grants by the Midland Education Foundation.

Etzel noted that Chelsea Dunlop and Ellen Boyd were the recipients from Legacy High School. "Grants to teachers and schools allow for more flexible spending for needed classroom items, programs, and reticent purchases that can’t always be planned for in budgets," she wrote on X. "We are thankful that the Education Foundation saw this need and bridged the gap with incredible donors from all over Midland that support our students! #EmpoweringforExcellence #rebelnation."

According to the Midland Independent School District (ISD) website, the Midland Education Foundation provides grants to enhance student learning through innovative instruction in various subjects, including fine arts and robotics. Over its 13-year history, the foundation has expanded through events such as "Tee it Up for Success" and "Concert for Kids." Scholarships like the Memorial Scholarship Fund, Pioneer Legacy scholarships, Tenaris STEM Scholarships, and Shining Stars scholarships have supported teachers within the district.

While these grants support Midland ISD students and teachers, the district oversees the foundation. Those interested in contributing to the foundation's efforts can reach out to Foundation Director Anita Gamertsfelder.
