West Texas is preparing for cold temperatures next week as an arctic cold front is expected to sweep across the United States, arriving in Texas on Sunday night.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Midland forecasts below-normal temperatures in the Permian Basin once the cold front moves through. "Get those coats and cobijas San Marcos ready! Much colder air is expected to push in next week. There are some questions in the air, but here is what we know," the organization wrote.
According to a graphic accompanying the post, there is a possibility of a wintry mix in the area, though it remains uncertain. "Confidence on timing, precipitation type, and associated impacts remains low at this time," NWS Midland added. The weather forecast for next week indicates daily highs ranging from the upper 30s to upper 40s, with lows between the teens and upper 20s.
The NWS forecasts suggest that Monday will have a high of 45 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 25, with wind gusts reaching up to 10 miles per hour in the afternoon.
