Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Howard | MISD

Midland Independent School District (ISD) Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Howard expressed optimism for the district's future, particularly looking ahead to 2025.

Howard took to X, a social media platform, to share her enthusiasm for the new year and her ongoing role. "I’m #MISDProud to be starting year 3 as the superintendent in @Midland_ISD," she wrote. "I truly believe we are poised for a great year because team Midland ISD is committed to this work and our great profession - here’s to a great year of Educating the Future with Excellence!"

A significant achievement during Howard’s leadership was the approval of a $1.4 billion school bond in November 2023. This bond will fund two new high school campuses for Midland and Legacy High Schools, upgrades to middle school campuses, a new elementary school, security enhancements, and improvements across aging district facilities. The bond received approval from 56.12% of voters who participated in the election.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Howard has been at the helm of Midland ISD since December 2022 and brings over three decades of experience in education. She previously served as superintendent for Crane ISD and deputy superintendent for Ector County ISD. Howard holds a doctorate in education from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
