Midland, Texas – Lorraine James Miles, aged 99, passed away on December 17, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Midland, Texas. Born on September 29, 1925, in Kirksey, Kentucky, Lorraine was known for her distinguished career in service as the first female Chief Juvenile Probation Officer in Texas.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Barbara Covington; son, Kevin Miles and his wife Diane; grandchildren, Alicia Rickner, Christopher Miles, Sean Covington, and Steven Miles; great-grandchildren, Aiden Covington and Hunter Miles; nieces Cheryl Jominy, Joyce Paschall, nephew Ross James, as well as four great-nieces and one great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, brothers Cordis James and Joe Pat James, and sister Aliese Paschall.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Midland, with burial following at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers will include Christopher Miles, Sean Covington, Steven Miles, and Hunter Miles.
