Midland Independent School District (ISD) is seeking public input to finalize the calendar for the 2025-26 academic year.
"We need your feedback for next year's school calendar! Visit midlandisd.net/calendardrafts to see the options, then complete the survey! #EngageAndAct," the district said in a Facebook post.
According to the district, there are three options available, crafted by the Calendar Committee. Each proposed calendar includes a minimum of 75,600 minutes of instruction, a total of 187 teacher workdays, two bad weather days, and one week off for Thanksgiving. Additionally, the district plans for a winter break extending before December 24 and after January 1, with no school scheduled past Memorial Day.
The first option proposes starting school on August 12, 2025, and ending on May 20, 2026. The second option suggests starting on August 19, 2025, and concluding on May 22, 2026. The third option would have students begin classes on August 13, 2025, with the school year ending on May 21, 2026. Participants in the survey have until December 18 to select their preferred calendar.
