Midland Independent School District (ISD) and San Angelo ISD have entered into a collaborative agreement aimed at reducing costs associated with food services.

The San Angelo Independent School District board approved the interlocal agreement with Midland ISD during a special meeting on Monday. The initiative is intended to enhance the procurement of food service products by leveraging combined purchasing power, which is expected to yield cost savings for both districts.

San Angelo ISD’s Child Nutrition Director, Tiffani Hebert, said that the partnership would improve warehouse efficiency for both districts. "This agreement creates more attractive opportunities for vendors, enabling us to secure significant discounts on high-volume items," said Hebert. She cited examples such as trash bags, where bulk purchases could result in substantial savings.

According to submitted documents, the agreement permits San Angelo ISD and Midland ISD to order larger quantities of high-demand items, thereby improving vendor pricing. Additionally, representatives from both districts will form a joint committee to review bids, which will require approval from each district. The agreement also includes a provision allowing either district to terminate the partnership if it ceases to be beneficial.
