The Great Big Spring Vacant Lot Cleanup will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 6419 TX 349, just north of Chevron and Occidental Parkway. The initiative, led by Keith Stelter, Vice President of Sales at Maze Environmental and Texas Fabco, is intended to address illegal dumping in the area while fostering community collaboration.
“It takes a community to take care of a community. I’ve been fortunate to see the oil and gas sector join forces with bankers, college professionals, and business owners to make a real difference,” said Stelter.
This cleanup brings together local businesses, nonprofits, news media, and industry leaders to restore an often-overlooked area. Contributors to the event include:
- Kevin Omachel, Wildcat Site Services, LLC: Dumpster donation.
- James Hayes: Trailer support for tire hauling.
- Volunteer Support: Safety vests, gloves, and trash bags provided for participants.
Since March 2024, Stelter’s cleanups have removed over 67 tons of trash and 400 tires, totaling 134,000 pounds of waste. These efforts reflect the community’s commitment to keeping the Permian Basin clean.
“Keith’s grassroots cleanups are a testament to the strength and unity of our community,” said Jonna Smoot, VP of Permian Basin Strategic Accounts at City Bank. “We come together as neighbors to do what’s right for the Permian.”
The Midland County Sheriff’s Office, Maze Environmental, Midland Times, and numerous other organizations and volunteers are also contributing to the event.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate, whether for the full two hours or as schedules allow. For more information or to RSVP, contact Keith Stelter via LinkedIn or follow updates on #KeepingThePermianCleanAgain.
