Two schools from the Midland Independent School District (MISD) have been recognized in the U.S. News & World Report's Best Elementary and Middle Schools List for 2025, as announced by the district on a Facebook post.

According to MISD, "Carver Center ranked as the #5 in Texas Elementary Schools and #1 in Texas Charter Elementary Schools! Young Women’s Leadership Academy ranked as #15 in Texas Middle Schools and #3 in Texas Charter Middle Schools. We are #MISDProud of these campuses! Carver Center Young Women's Leadership Academy of Midland."

The rankings were based on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. The report focused on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in math and reading/language arts, while accounting for student background and achievement in core subjects. Student-teacher ratios were used to break ties in the overall score.

LaMont Jones, managing editor for education at U.S. News, said that "The 2025 Best Elementary and Middle Schools rankings offer parents a way to evaluate how schools are providing a high-quality education and preparing students for future success." He added that "The data empowers families and communities to advocate for their children's education. Research continues to indicate that how students perform academically at these early grade levels is a big factor in their success in high school and beyond."
