The Midland Independent School District (ISD) Bond Advisory Committee convened for the fifth time since the 2023 Midland ISD School Bond was approved by voters last November.

According to a news release from the district, aside from receiving updates on projects and construction timelines, the meeting served as an opportunity to reiterate the responsibilities of board members. The district has been proactive in keeping the community informed about bond-related projects through various forms of community engagement, including news releases and social media posts.

Members of the community can also access the district’s bond website to view artist renderings for projects included in the bond. The committee reported that Lone Star Trail Elementary, scheduled to open in August 2025, now has its own website with associated social media pages.

According to the news release, demolition has commenced at the site where the new Midland High School will be built. The schematic design for security improvements at the district’s elementary schools, as outlined in the bond, is approximately 20% complete. The design process for renovations at Midland Freshman High School and Goddard Junior High School is 40% complete, with construction anticipated by summer 2025. The design for renovations at Alamo Junior High School, which includes a new library and classrooms, is 30% finished. The board meets quarterly and is expected to reconvene in February.
