Rebels’ Reyes in running for SI Texas high school player of week award

Rebels’ quarterback JP Reyes is among 25 players in contention for the Sports Illustrated Texas Offensive High School Football Player of the Week.

According to Sports Illustrated, Reyes threw four touchdowns and 211 yards as Midland Legacy concluded their season by defeating the Odessa Bronchos 75-22. Reyes retweeted a link to the post on X.

The sophomore quarterback completed 114 passes on 184 attempts for 1,624 yards and 20 touchdowns during the season, according to MaxPreps. He also rushed the ball 31 times for 34 yards.

The Rebels have secured the second seed in their district with a district record of 4-1 and an overall record of 5-5. They will face El Paso Franklin Cougars on Thursday at 6 p.m., according to a tweet by Athletic Director Alfred Acosta Jr. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults and $3 for students before game day when they rise to $6 for adults and $4 for students. Tickets can only be purchased online on the El Paso Independent School District website.
