A Texas-based barbecue restaurant chain will open a new location in Midland, as reported by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
Rudy's Bar-B-Q, under the leadership of Vice President Pete Bassett, plans to renovate the currently unused 8,261-square-foot Carino’s Italian Grill. The renovation is projected to cost $850,000. According to TDLR, the project at 4711 Loop 250 Frontage Road is scheduled to begin on Jan. 1, 2025, with completion expected by April 1.
Moondance Investments from Spicewood is responsible for constructing the restaurant, and Lingle Design Group from Lena, Illinois, will do the architectural design of the building renovation.
The concept of Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q originated with Philip Romano. He was also behind Fuddruckers and Romano’s Macaroni Grill. According to Restaurant Business, Romano initially renovated a Leon Springs gas station in 1989 to include barbecue offerings. He sold the franchise concept in 1996 to a group of investors that included Bassett. The chain now operates locations in Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arizona.
