The Second Annual Festival of Trees will be held at the Bush Convention Center, 105 N. Main Street, on November 8-9. The event raises funds for the Adult Protective Services Advisory Board of the Permian Basin to support elderly and disabled individuals who are victims of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
The event opens on Friday, and runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., featuring decorated Christmas trees and performances. At 10:00 a.m., the Midland Academy Charter School Orchestra will perform, followed by the Legacy Rebel Choir at 11:00 a.m. The adults only VIP Sponsor Party runs from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m and features a performance by Current Nine, along with hor d'oeuvres, cocktails, dancing and a silent auction.
On Saturday, the event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Santa will be present from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by Urbi, the Urban Air Mascot, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., and the Grinch from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Performances include the Hispanic Cultural Center of Midland Folklorico Dancers at 10:00 a.m., the Midland Christian School Choir at 11:00 a.m., the Odessa High School Choir at 1:00 p.m., the Hispanic Cultural Center of Midland Mariachi Band at 2:00 p.m., and the Legacy Dolls at 3:00 p.m.
The event concludes with a live Facebook raffle at 6:15 p.m., with winners collecting their trees on Sunday.
More than 50 trees will be decorated and donated by local companies and organizations. Sponsors include Midland Times, Chevron, Home Care Plus, Senior Life Midland, American Legion Auxiliary, Rel Events, Girls Who Write Group, Midland Fire Department, Nexline Energy Services, D&D Home Services, and Navarrete Schwartz, P.C. Attorneys at Law.
Raffles and auctions will support the cause. Sponsors include Diamondback Energy, Half Acre, and Midland Meat Company. Midland Times is a media sponsor.
