The Midland City Council will meet on Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. to discuss agenda items ranging from concessions at local facilities to infrastructure projects and economic development initiatives.

Key items include:

Food and Beverage Concession Contract: A proposal to award a food and beverage concession contract to O'Mulligan’s 19th Hole for services at Hogan Park Golf Course. The contract, recommended by Parks and Recreation, is set for five years with an option to renew for up to ten years.

Firefighter Safety Gear Purchase: Approval to purchase sixty sets of bunker gear from Dooley Tackaberry, Inc., at a cost of $206,052.84. This purchase aims to ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain firefighter readiness.

Landfill Access Road Project: A contract for the Landfill Access Road Project with Reece Albert, Inc., totaling $3,664,036.08, plus $732,807 for contingencies. This project addresses the deteriorating condition of the entrance road to the City of Midland Landfill.

Airport Maintenance Program: Authorization for a 2025 Routine Airport Maintenance Program agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation. This includes a $100,000 appropriation from the Airport Operating Fund for various improvements and maintenance at Midland Airpark.

The council will also discuss economic development agreements, including a promotional agreement with the Midland Development Corporation and a $142,500 commitment to MOTRAN Alliance for fiscal year 2025 to enhance transportation infrastructure.

Public hearings will focus on proposed zoning changes to reclassify certain properties from multiple-family to single-family dwelling districts, potentially affecting housing availability in the city.
