The MISD Board of Trustees recently presented the Strategic Plan Oversight Committee for the 2024-25 school year.
According to a district news release, the strategic plan has been made available on their website, outlining objectives that MISD aims to achieve by 2028. A key focus of the plan is to enhance Advanced Placement (AP) performance by increasing the number of scholars from 127 to 234 and improving scores with a 7% increase in those achieving scores of three or higher.
Other initiatives include engaging parents more actively in their children's education, developing staff skillsets through district-wide programs, and assessing the effectiveness of discipline strategies and support systems. The district noted that over 98% of participants in its Teach Like a Champion program reported satisfactory experiences with mentoring.
The news release also said that efforts to reduce fights have shown improvement, with initial analytics for the current school year indicating a downward trend. MISD attributes this progress to consistent messaging and reinforced discipline strategies. Additionally, the district's initiative to restrict cell phone use among students has received positive feedback from both staff and students.
