The Midland Police Department (MPD) has issued a warning to residents regarding a phone scam purportedly involving the City of Midland Municipal Court.

According to an October 15 Facebook post by the Permian Basin law enforcement agency, scam calls are being made under the guise of the municipal court, attempting to sell Medicare or Medicaid services. The post states that the municipal court will always direct individuals to make payments through the city’s official website or in person.

The phone number displayed on caller IDs during these scams is (432) 685-7316. The MPD urges anyone receiving such calls to report them and share the alert with others.

Recently, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) also cautioned about a similar ongoing phone scam where callers impersonate law enforcement officers and demand money. This marks the second warning from MCSO this year regarding such scams.
