The progress of the 2023 school bond was a topic of discussion at the recent Midland Independent School District (ISD) School Board meeting.

According to a news release, 80% of the underslab plumbing is complete at Lone Star Trails Elementary. The schematic design for the elementary renovation project package is expected to be completed by August 2026. Additionally, the schematic design of the two new high schools is finished, with 35% of the design phase completed.

The release also indicates that packages concerning middle school renovations at Goddard Junior High and Alamo Junior High are expected to be completed by August 2026. Renovations at Midland Freshman into a middle school are currently 50-60% complete, with an anticipated completion date in November of this year. The board was presented with numerous artist renderings of the proposed projects.

Furthermore, according to the news release, packages related to adding security cameras to the district’s elementary schools are 50-60% complete, with this portion of the project expected to be finalized in spring 2025. The board is expected to name the architect it will work with for the San Jacinto and Abell junior highs projects at next month’s meetings.
