The Trinity School of Midland tennis team participated in the large school Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Team Tennis tournament held in Waco from Oct. 7 to 8.
According to a press release attributed to the school, the Chargers competed against St. Augustine, the British International School of Houston, Geneva School of Boerne, and Central Catholic/Incarnate Word High School.
Chargers head coach Janneke Garos said in the release that the program gained significant experience from the tournament, describing Trinity’s opponents as having considerable depth. Garos added that Trinity faced solid and challenging competition in the top three spots but competed mightily and had many phenomenal rallies and points.
Ray Qi played as the one seed in singles while Riley Belz and Jacob Kaczor also played in the top spot in boys doubles. Joshua Schavemaker, Marshall Morgan, William Dorman, Andrew Martin, and John Gordon represented the boys' team.
Angie Zhang, Ava Overby, and Rayven Kidd took the top three spots for the girls' team. Sophia Trevino, Jordyn Livingston, and Grace Walker completed the lineup. Overby represented Trinity as the Chargers’ All-Tournament Player.
