James Tommy (JT) White, Vietnam Veteran and Mobil Oil Retiree, Passes Away at 74

Midland, Texas - James Tommy (JT) White, aged 74, entered eternal life on August 29, 2024, in Midland, Texas, surrounded by his family. Born on December 11, 1949, in Atlanta, Texas, James was a proud graduate of Midland High School and a distinguished veteran who honorably served in the US Army, including tours in El Paso, Germany, and Vietnam.

James married Gracie B. Strambler, his high school sweetheart, in 1969, with whom he shared a deep love and had two sons, Tony James and Jeremy Jerome White. During his tenure spanning 30 years at Mobil Oil, James rose through the ranks to become a Supervisor Tech. He was actively involved at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and was known for his service in the Men's Choir, Trustee department, Financial team, and Food Service department. James had a passion for restoring classic cars, renovating houses, fishing, and sports of all kinds.

Preceded in death by his parents, Willie G. and R. T. White, as well as his beloved brothers and grandparents, James is survived by his wife, sons, grandchildren, brother, sisters, and a large extended family.

Visitation will be at Ellis Funeral Home on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 6-8 p.m., with funeral services scheduled for Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Park. James' legacy of dedication to his family, community, and love for life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
