Keep Midland Beautiful marked Texas Arbor Day on November 1 by planting 45 trees at Halff Park.

According to a Facebook post shared after the event, the non-profit organization collaborated with volunteers from Diamondback Energy, the city of Midland, fifth-grade students from the Midland Independent School District’s South Elementary School, Midland TreeKeepers, and Midland City Councilman John Norman.

Diamondback has been sponsoring the event since 2020. Since that time, more than 435 trees have been planted in the city's parks.

According to the Texas A&M Forest Service's website, Arbor Day in the United States has been observed since 1872 when it originated in Nebraska. Texas celebrates Arbor Day annually on November 1 due to cooler weather compared to spring when the holiday is traditionally celebrated. Governor Greg Abbott issues a proclamation for this occasion.
